Ana María Martinez joined OGEJS in 2009 after receiving her J.D., cum laude and with Pro Bono distinction, from the Georgia State University College of Law. Her litigation practice includes experience in consumer warranty law, premises liability, professional liability, products liability, general personal injury defense, and employment law. Originally from Colombia, South America, Ms. Martinez is fluent in English and Spanish. She received her B.B.A., cum laude, in Marketing from The University of Georgia in 2004. While at UGA, she was Vice-President of Professional Development and Public Relations of Alpha Kappa Psi, Professional Business Fraternity.
During law school, she served as president of the Moot Court Board and the Hispanic Student Bar Association, and was a Bleckley Inn of Court pupil. Ms. Martinez received an Honors distinction in the College of Law's litigation program and was awarded the NAI Scholarship for Advanced Evidence. She also participated in the 2007 Summer Academy in International Commercial Arbitration in Europe.
Ms. Martinez is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers. She serves as the current president of the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association. In addition, she co-chairs the Law Related Education committee of the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia and is the co-chair elect of the Multi-Bar Leadership Council. In 2012, she received the Award of Achievement for Outstanding Service to the Public from the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia.
